Webinar Recording – Inclusivity and Equity in Testing: Enabling Multilingual Assessments

With increasing migration and globalization, multilingual assessments have become a key component of inclusivity and equity in testing. It’s no longer a fair assumption to assume that all test-takers in a specific country speak the main language as their native language.

In fact, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OCED) reported that around 12% of adults on average are non-native speakers in a mix of developed countries. In the US alone, around 67 million (21.9%) residents speak a language other than English at home.

Presented by Gavin Cooney, CEO and co-founder of Learnosity, and John Kleeman, founder of Questionmark (now part of the Learnosity Group) this session will look at the importance and business need for multilingual assessments. Topics covered in this session will include:

  • The inclusivity and equity issues around ensuring that assessments are fair to people whose native language is different to that of the test
  • The various aspects of multilingual assessments (multilingual UI, translation of questions, translation aids, right to left languages, etc.)
  • How Questionmark and Learnosity can help to support multilingual assessments
