Instructional Design for the Real World
Synopsis:
Instructional design doesn’t have to be difficult. This session offers a fast, fun tour of tools and tricks that will support rapid instructional design, help you cut to the heart of needs analysis, and improve communication with your subject matter experts, managers and others requesting training solutions.
Learning objectives:
- Acquire real-world tools that can be applied to any training design assignment.
- Discover strategies to identify the root causes of problems—and articulate better solutions.
- Get advice on making effective use of props, staying energized, marketing training programs, and other things they don't tell you in train-the-trainer courses.
This program is based on Jane's book, "From Analysis to Evaluation." Handouts include complete copies of the tools discussed in the session.

Presenter Bio:
Dr. Jane Bozarth is an internationally known trainer, speaker, and author.
A training practitioner since 1989, Jane holds an M.Ed. in Training and Development/Technology in Training and a doctorate in Training and Development. She is the author of several books: Pfeiffer’s E-Learning Solutions on A Shoestring; Better Than Bullet Points; From Analysis to Evaluation; and, with Jim Kouzes & Barry Posner, The Challenge Continues workshop package. Her new book, Social Media for Trainers, offers concrete ideas for using social media tools to enhance and extend workplace training efforts. Following a 10-year stint as a member of Training Magazine’s “In Print” book review team, She began writing Learning Solutions Magazine’s popular “Nuts and Bolts” column.
In addition to her work as Elearning Coordinator for the state of North Carolina, USA, Dr. Bozarth has a longstanding collaborative relationship with InSync Training, LLC and serves as their Social Media Strategist. She has received a Live and Online Award, a Training Magazine Editor’s Pick Award, and a North Carolina State University Distinguished Alumni Award for Outstanding Contributions to Practice.
