Presenter: Scott Wilde, Business Analyst, Intermountain Healthcare

Title:
Eighty’s a Crowd: Managing a Multitude of Assessment Authors

Synopsis:

With 23 hospitals and numerous clinics and additional services, Intermountain Healthcare uses many assessments for everything from surveys and knowledge checks to compliance and certification.

More than 80 people are involved authoring assessments, using Windows Authoring Manager, Web-Based Authoring and Questionmark Live. Each author has a different level of understanding, not only of the software itself but also of how assessments are used. Some write assessment frequently; others other occasionally. In addition to having many different authors, we have reporting administrators whose needs also must be taken into account.

Managing many different people and their varying needs can be challenging, and sometimes we wish we could just say, “No!” But through our experience in crowdsourcing assessments we have developed strategies for responding to changes in personnel, training employees in the use of Questionmark technologies and allocating access to them.

In managing all this, we rely on five key words: Who, What, Why, How, and When. What is the purpose of an assessment? How it will be authored and delivered? When will it be needed? This session will show how, by answering these questions such as these, we are able to keep pace with the constant demand for up-to-date, relevant assessments.

A peer discussion following the presentation will give participants the opportunity to ask questions and talk about different strategies for managing a crowd.

Learning Objectives:

  • Gather ideas on how to manage multiple authors
  • Address varying levels of ability among Questionmark users
  • Manage the costs of having large numbers of authors

Recommended Experience Level: Beginning/Intermediate
