Title:
So You Think You Can...Skill Assessment via Questionmark Perception

Synopsis:
Reality TV has produced a multitude of shows in which individuals "prove" their skill by receiving a rating on their performance from an independent panel of judges. While this method works in the entertainment industry, it is impractical for other professions. We developed a program of virtual skill assessments for our HVAC service technicians which has proven to be an effective, efficient way for us to gauge the skill level of our workforce on key tasks. The assessments were designed to be delivered via our Perception system. They are designed to mimic a technician's experience on the job, including providing access to the resources that the technician would have with them on the job. This session will focus on how we structured these assessments in Perception, including the topic structure, use of page blocks and presentation of feedback and results.

Objectives:

  • Learn how Johnson Controls is using Perception to implement a virtual skills assessment program for service technicians.
  • Appreciate the advantages of structuring an assessment to provide feedback based on topics rather than individual questions.
  • Discover how to structure the assessment to provide access to related resources.
