Questionmark Receives Patent for Secure Browser Technology
Reduces the risk of cheating on tests by launching Questionmark Secure from an ordinary browser
TRUMBULL, CT -- February 1, 2016 -- Testing and assessment technology provider Questionmark today announced the issuance of a patent for the unique technology of Questionmark Secure, a lock-down browser that helps prevent cheating on high-stakes tests and exams delivered online.
U,S. Patent Number 9,055,048 covers the technology behind Questionmark Secure, which disables functions that participants could use to print or copy exam material, 'accidentally' exit a test, or gain access to materials on their devices or the Internet.
A participant using an ordinary browser can be required to engage Questionmark Secure at test time. The locked-down browser then displays the HTML content of the assessment but disables key functions such as task-switching, right-click options, screen captures, menus and printing.
Questionmark is dedicated to helping clients protect their test development investments, reduce cheating, avoid content theft, ensure secure delivery and gain valid exam results.
“High-stakes assessments help determine if people can perform their jobs effectively, but threats to the authenticity of a test’s results can throw its validity into question,” said Questionmark Chairman John Kleeman. “Our development of secure browsing technologies reflects our commitment to helping our customers get trustable results from their assessments. We aim to provide innovative techniques and technologies that enable our customers to readily deliver tests and exams to their candidates while ensuring the integrity of their assessment programs.”
Organizations throughout the world use Questionmark OnDemand software-as-a-service or Questionmark Perception on premises to deliver certification exams and other high-stakes tests as well as surveys, quizzes and other assessments. In addition to Questionmark Secure, the company offers a wide variety of technologies and methods for protecting test content, personal data and assessment results.
Questionmark technologies and services enable organizations to measure knowledge, skills and attitudes for certification, regulatory compliance, successful learning outcomes, performance improvement and talent management.
