Why is the screen resolution reported incorrectly?

You may come across a situation where if your organization is using Browser Checker your computer can report itself as having a screen resolution that is less than required, despite it being equal or greater than the minimum setting. For example, you may get the following error displayed, despite your computer being set to a resolution of 1600 x 900.

The reason for this to occur is because of the 'full page zoom' functionality that browsers have. For example, in Internet Explorer 8 you can click the following section in the bottom right hand corner of the screen to adjust the Zoom function of the browser.

Firefox has similar functionality available from the View menu.

The zoom functionality effectively makes the screen bigger by altering the DPI settings within the browser window. This causes the technology used by Browser Checker to incorrectly report on the screen dimensions.

If you are getting a message similar to the above, please make sure you return the browser full page zoom function to 100% and try to re-launch the assessment.
