Neil McGough, General Manager
Neil joined Questionmark as General Manager in 2021, after the company was acquired by Learnosity.
Before joining Questionmark, Neil spent the last seven years in Learnosity, overseeing the inception and growth of its Developer Support, Sales Engineering, and Customer Success teams. He began his career in the Telecommunications industry.
Neil specializes in combining a strong revenue and customer retention focus with deep product and market knowledge in the Education & Learning Technology space.
John Kleeman, Founder
John is the Founder of Questionmark. He has a first class degree from Trinity College, Cambridge, and is a Chartered Engineer and a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe. John wrote the first version of the Questionmark assessment software system and then founded Questionmark in 1988 to market, develop and support it.
John has been heavily involved in assessment management software for over 30 years. He was on the original team that created the IMS Global Learning Consortium Question and Test Interoperability specification and has worked on standards initiatives with Advanced Distributed Learning, Aviation Industry Computer Based Training Committee, Association of Test Publishers, British Standards Institute, Instructional Management Systems and International Organization for Standardization. John is a director of the Association of Test Publishers and is their 2021 Chairperson.
Jennifer Johnson, Chief Customer Officer
Jen joined Questionmark in 2018 and leads the Americas business development and account management teams.
Jen specializes in building and upskilling a high-performing, customer-focused team that meets and exceeds targets. An accomplished senior sales executive with a 16-year track record delivering revenue and profit gains within highly competitive U.S. and global markets, Jen previously served as Vice President, Global Sales, for Trivantis.
Joe Udwin, Chief Technology Officer
As CTO, Joe leads the Product Development department. He joined Questionmark in 2009 and was pivotal in their adoption of SCRUM and the Agile Security Development Lifecycle. An advocate of continuous improvement, he is always looking for new ways to foster innovation and increase the quality and productivity of the full development lifecycle.
Joe has a passion for architecting secure and scalable enterprise software but ultimately he enjoys finding innovative solutions to difficult problems.
Prior to Questionmark: Joe read Physics at The University of Manchester, incorporated his first consumer facing tech company at the age of 21 and built some of the first Facebook applications for a number of SMBs.
Peter Rooken-Smith, Chief Financial Officer
Peter has over 20 years of international commercial experience, mainly in the tech and telecom sectors from VC start-ups to larger listed enterprises. He is a hands on finance professional helping organizations grow successfully.
Prior to Questionmark, Peter was Finance Director at Vizolution, Ascom Network Testing and Financial Controller at Argo Interactive.
Claire Strawson, VP of Global Marketing
Claire specializes in the delivery of transformational change initiatives that help to deliver the strategic vision. She is an industry leader within the brand transformation space and focuses on maximizing growth. She is most passionate about putting the customer at the heart of everything we do and enabling their success.
Claire has over 20 years’ experience in strategic marketing. Her career spans multiple industries with global organizations including Aviva Investors, Legal & General, Applied Systems, Lloyds TSB, Schroders, Equifax and Addleshaw Goddard. Claire is a Chartered Marketer and member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Angela O’Leary, VP of Sales EMEA/APAC
Angela is responsible for generating new business and growing current customers. She leads a team of business development managers, and account managers across the UK, EU and international markets.
She has worked in the assessment industry for 20 years, joining Questionmark in November 2000. Angela has held various roles, including UK Academic Sales Manager and UK Customer Care Manager. She is driven to deliver excellent customer service.
Steve Lay, VP of Product Management
Steve is an expert on scalable, computerized assessment and integration between systems, and has ensured that the million of assessments delivered by Questionmark are robust and scalable.
Before joining Questionmark, Steve worked at the University of Cambridge’s Centre for Applied Research into Educational Technologies (CARET) in England. Prior to that he was part of a new technologies team at Cambridge Assessment, known in the United Kingdom as the OCR exam board and outside the UK as the University of Cambridge International Examinations board, or Cambridge ESOL, a leading provider of tests of English for speakers of other languages. Early in his career, Steve worked in the University of Cambridge Department of Applied Maths and Theoretical Physics on projects ranging from the development of a Digital Desk to the production of multimedia course materials and other teaching support software.
Steve was chair of the Question and Test Interoperability specification project team (QTI) from 2003-2008. He is also active in the IMS and other e-learning standards groups.
Simon Wells, VP of Operations
Simon joined the Questionmark in 2008 as a support technician. He is now part of the senior management team and manages the crews who maintain our systems and services.
Simon moved from the UK to the USA in 2001 and brought with him several years of retail management experience. He has a lifelong passion for technology which he utilizes in the day-to-day management of his globally based teams in in England, Germany and North America. Simon enjoys working with our diverse group of teams who provide our customers with around-the-clock service and support.
Kaitlyn Lardin, Human Resources Director
Kaitlyn is responsible for all HR functions including recruitment, employee benefits, HR administration, employee relations and performance management in the US, UK, Canada and Europe.
Kaitlyn is a former technical recruiter. She holds a master’s degree in Industrial/Organization Psychology from the University of New Haven.
Howard Eisenberg, Director of Professional Services
Howard brings extensive hands-on experience in the design, development, and administration of online assessments in the contexts of professional certification, employee learning and development, and in higher education. He oversees a team of technical and functional consultants who implement Questionmark for customers, ensuring they get the most value out of what the software offers.
Howard holds a Master of Arts degree from New York University in Educational Communication and Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Prior to joining Questionmark in 2004, Howard was an Associate Director with LeBow College of Business M.B.A online program at Drexel University and the Instructional Design Manager at Strategic Management Group in Philadelphia.
Alexandra Welter, Financial Controller
Alexandra serves as Questionmark’s Financial Controller. Together with her team, she is responsible for the delivery of finance services, such as accounting, treasury, reporting and budgeting, in accordance with legislative requirements and organizational policies and strategies.
As a chartered accountant, Alexandra began her career in investment banking in Ireland. She has over 10 years’ experience in providing professional services across a broad range of industries, including life sciences and fintech, working in Dublin, Toronto and London.
