Facilitators:
Karen Chisholm and Keith Peterson, Arkansas State Department of Workforce Education

Topic:
Using Assessment Data to Improve Academic Performance

Background:
The State of Arkansas, through the Department of Workforce Education utlizes Enterprise Manager reports to improve classroom performance for both teachers and students. By aligning course curriculum standards with specific questions within the authoring system, teachers are able to receive standard specific student/class performance data. We would like to showcase how this process is utlized in Arkansas by discussing how curriculum standards data can be obtained. We will then share what can be done with the data at the classroom level to improve student/class performance.

Kick-off Questions:

  • What good is data if it is not actionable?
  • How can academic assessment data be harvested in a useful way?
  • How can teachers/schools use assessment data to improve test scores and classroom performance?
