Title:

Creating Adaptive Tests Using Simulation and Sound

Synopsis:

Datakortet’s wholly owned subsidiary, Norsk Test, have delivered a test for digital literacy that utilizes many new assessment capabilities, some of them standard Questionmark Perception features and others developed by Datakortet.This test will be used throughout Norway to map the level of digital literacy for adults. Test results will be used to customize training.

We have used three unique techniques;

  1. Adaptive test: The test consists of two parts. Based on the results from the first part the candidate is presented with one of three alternatives for part two. This makes it possible not only to have one test for a large number of people, but also to give quite detailed feedback on skill level.
  2. Simulation: We have developed several simulation tasks for the candidate to demonstrate skills. Examples are ordering cinema tickets, selling a car, using postal services etc
  3. Sound. We have integrated a solution where it is possible at any place in the test (apart from illustrations and simulations) to select text and have it read out using speech synthesis.

Objectives:

  • Learn how to create an adaptive test
  • Get ideas on simulation tests
  • See an integrated sound solution
