The Questionmark™ Perception™ assessment management system, available for licensed, on-premise deployment or as an on-demand solution, enables trainers, educators and testing professionals to author, schedule, deliver, and report on surveys, quizzes, tests and exams.
Distinguishing features of Questionmark Perception include:
- Distributed Authoring and Item Management: Questionmark Perception enables training professionals, instructional designers, educators, testing professionals and subject matter experts to author questions, organize them into assessments, and store and edit them within local or remote databases called repositories. Wizard-based authoring enables creation of 22 different types of questions ranging from commonly used question types such as multiple choice, Likert scale, fill-in-the-blank and essay – to innovative question types such as drag-and-drop, spoken response, and interactive, questions that integrate Adobe Flash and Adobe Captivate simulations. Authors may store by topic or learning objective, and then draw from these question banks to create surveys, quizzes, tests and exams.
- Scheduling: Questionmark Perception enables administrators to define schedules appropriate for the stakes of each particular assessment, group or individual. Administrators may set limits on dates and number of attempts, require a proctor to log in, require delivery at a certified test center, and send email broadcasts notifying participants of schedules.
- Blended Delivery: Perception delivers assessments online to standard or secure web browsers and to mobile devices such as smart phones and PDAs. Perception also enables printing and scanning of assessments, centralizing management of both online and paper-delivered tests. Assessment delivery options allow questions and choices to be shuffled, and for participants to receive helpful feedback at item, topic, or assessment level. Options for high-stakes assessment delivery include secure browser, proctoring security and test center management.
- Reporting and analytics: Answers are scored and saved to a database for analysis and reporting. Perception offers twelve pre-defined reports that enable administrators to analyze and share results with stakeholders. Reports include item and test analysis, question statistics, gap analysis, coaching, survey analysis and many more.
- Translation Management: Questionmark’s Translation Management System, an optional component of Perception, helps test publishers, businesses and other organizations that need to deliver assessments in multiple languages by streamlining the translation, management and delivery of localized content to multinational workforces
- Integration, Interoperability and Standards Support: Designed in accordance with industry standards, Questionmark Perception can be seamlessly integrated with a variety of enterprise systems. Questionmark is a keen supporter of open standards that enable interoperability between best-of-breed enterprise systems, including AICC, ADL SCORM, .NET, HR-XML, IMS QTI, and the JSR-168 portlet specification. Questionmark’s Open Assessment Platform™ allows developers to build upon and integrate with Questionmark technologies using a powerful, web-services based API.

The Questionmark Customer Advisory Board is a group of experienced, enterprise-level Questionmark Perception users who meet semi-annually with Questionmark management. The primary mission of the Board is to facilitate open communication between Questionmark management and customers. The Board is a crucial source of insights about customer issues and concerns, product development needs and service requirements.
Through semi-annual two-day meetings,
the Customer Advisory Board provides a forum for listening, sharing and collaboration leading to better products and services and enhanced satisfaction of all Questionmark customers. Members, who represent organizations from a variety of sectors – including financial services, healthcare, education, technology, energy, and government/military -- have the opportunity to influence decision-making at the highest levels of Questionmark management and to interact with colleagues in a way that promotes progress in the development of improvement online assessment technologies. Members represent not only the needs of their specific organizations, but the customer constituency they represent.
In addition to semi-annual meetings, the Board maintains year-round communications by way of telephone meetings and an online forum.
