Questionmark Case Study

Create and deploy tests without web developers or software engineers

Scenario

Strategic Management Group in Philadelphia designs, develops, and delivers management training programs for Fortune 1000 companies. The company focuses on disciplines such as finance, strategy, leadership, project management, marketing, and sales. SMG's solutions including assessment and planning; online simulations; targeted e-learning programs; instructor-led workshops; learning support resources; and custom development.

The company runs online learning programs as well as business seminars utilizing business simulations that model best practices or the workings of a business from a systems dynamic perspective.

Using Perception

Questionmark™ Perception™ is the testing tool SMG uses for online programs that complement these seminars and for assessments used in connection with regular Web-based training courses. Perception is also used to collect end-user feedback on training programs through user satisfaction surveys.

"It has been fairly easy to integrate the Perception server with our existing IQnet™ platform, a three-tier system we created in house," says SMG Project Manager Howard Eisenberg. "When we deliver our learning modules, all the information is drawn from different databases but links together seamlessly. We've been able to develop pretty big question databases, which we can draw upon for everything from pre-seminar assessments to follow-up quizzes. Once we have created questions we are able to leverage them for various uses."

Results

Eisenberg says that the ability to take tests whenever they please and receive immediate feedback is Perception's primary advantage to students. For instructional designers who may not be proficient in html and other scripting languages, Perception offers the ability to create and deploy tests without relying on web developers or software engineers.
