Toshiba Implements New Training System Delivered Via Satellite and the Internet Questionmark Perception and John Matchett Registrar provide integrated system 2nd August 2000 - Toshiba's Electronic Imaging Division (EID) has chosen Questionmark Computing's Perception and John Matchett's Registrar to provide an integrated training system that will streamline the delivery and management of both technical and sales training courses. The new systems, due to go live in November 2000, will support a nationwide distribution channel. Satellite technology and the Internet will be used as the media for product delivery. "Instead of our three day on-site training courses, we will be able to offer our partners a more modular and therefore flexible approach that will check a number of pre-conditions electronically before booking candidates onto specific courses. And, with most of the training done before-hand, using online tests created using Questionmark Perception, the courses can be reduced to just one day. This will reduce costs for all parties and enables us to carry out a wider range of training courses than ever before," comments John Hawes, National Business Development Manager Electronic Imaging Division for Toshiba. He continues, "With course booking and eligibility testing becoming much slicker we will be able to ensure that courses are attended only when the time is right for each candidate. Also, as the courses will take only a single day, we will be able to slot them in more easily to suit both partner and Toshiba trainers. Our post-training evaluation should capture essential feedback from candidates immediately after courses to make sure that we improve our responsiveness. These feedback forms will be delivered electronically." The system will deliver test material and course work via satellite and then online tests will be conducted via the Internet. The satellite delivery allows high volume/high resolution files, such as video, to be delivered to candidates' desktops without excessive download times and allowing access to be timed by the trainer. "We chose Questionmark Perception and John Matchett Registrar because they were the only products that provided an integrated training approach. These products will enable us to offer our channel partners a much more efficient service and ensure that their skills remain current. We have eight new products to be launched during November and five new sales courses in development and they will all go directly onto the new training system. We are confident that this system will deliver real benefits to us and our partners and it will reduce the cost of training more people over the coming years," added Hawes.
