Perception to help Pinnacle Insurance with future GISC legislation

Pinnacle Assesses its Skills and Tests its Staff with Perception from Questionmark

LONDON- November, 2001 - Sales skills testing is proving to be a critical part of the staff development processes at Pinnacle Insurance Plc, a leading creditor insurer who plans to extend the use of Perception for all its internal training courses, providing detailed post-training assessment. Also, Pinnacle is looking to extend the Perceptions software to its end customers, to help meet the requirements of the General Insurance Standards Council, which is looking to be the single regulator of general insurance activities in the UK.

Georgette Smith, Training and Development Manager for Pinnacle, comments, "We began working with Perception last October when we created a skills survey for our staff. This enabled us to assess their existing skills and also the gaps where our training and development resources should be concentrated. Since then, we have introduced personal development plans for most of our staff and have systems in place to maintain and develop individual skills quickly and easily using Perception on our intranet."

"Questionmark's Perception software has proved to be incredibly useful and there are several other applications of the system that we foresee over the coming months. Perception will be very useful in ensuring that our customers have in-depth product knowledge they will require under GISC regulation."

There are several other uses of the software at present. These include a three-month induction programme within the claims and administration department that tests how well new employees of the company are learning the necessary skills. At the end of the period, their competence is tested and the aim is to establish some kind of benchmark for skill levels of new staff. Also, Financial Telemarketing Services (FTS), the company's customer contact centre, created an awareness survey using Perception that gauges the opinions of tele-agents within the call centre and gives feedback on the areas where skills should be developed further.
