New Book Features Questionmark Authors

LONDON – November 9, 2005 – Questionmark President Eric Shepherd and company Chairman John Kleeman are among the authors featured in a new book that offers suggestions and advice from experts in the field of online assessment and measurement.

Online Assessment and Measurement; Foundations and Challenges, recently released by Information Science Publishing, was edited by Mary Hricko of Kent State University and Scott L. Howell of Brigham Young University. The book begins with chapters that define online and assessment and measurement, then explores best practices in assessment design and the challenges involved in the design, development and delivery of assessments. The final section of the book examines issues surrounding security, authentication and support.

Shepherd and Kleeman co-wrote a chapter on "Delivering Computerised Assessments Safely and Securely," which provides a methodology for assessment the security requirements for delivering computer-based assessments and explains the various security methods available. Another chapter, contributed by Shepherd, is a primer on industry standards, describing the process by which standards are formulated and the organizations that create them.

About Questionmark
Questionmark has been producing testing and assessment software since 1988. The Questionmark Perception assessment management system allows people to create question files without programming experience or knowledge of HTML. Users can create multiple question banks from which to assemble tests and surveys, organising questions into topics and sub-topics. They can shuffle questions and answers for each participant and preview sessions to see how they will appear post-deployment. They can present questions with videos, graphics and a wide variety of styles. Participants receive feedback as specified by the test author. Answers are saved to a file for scoring and analysis in a variety of report formats.

Businesses, governments, schools, colleges, and universities in more than 50 countries use Questionmark software. Questionmark has more than 2,200 customers using Perception and is a keen supporter of open standards. Typical applications include exams, quizzes, study aids, diagnostic tests, pre-course skills assessments, and course evaluations. Questionmark offers training courses and extensive learning materials designed to improve assessment authoring and management.
