Questionmark Perception to Power Internet-based
Immunology Curriculum

Swiss Virtual Campus Offers “Immunology Online”

LONDON -- October 25, 2005 – European students of immunology will soon be able to pursue their studies online, using quizzes powered by the Questionmark™ Perception™ that not only to measure knowledge but also to provide feedback that promotes learning.

“Immunology Online” is one of four dozen e-learning projects developed by the Swiss Virtual Campus (SVC) program, a joint project of the Swiss government along with seven universities and two institutes of technology. The program’s learning management system allows instructors to moderate discussion forums that promote interaction between students and highly regarded immunology specialists.

The course will be offered to all Swiss students of immunology in bachelors, masters or doctoral degrees starting in early 2006 and was highlighted in a recent issue of Nature Reviews: Immunology. Through collaboration with the World Health Organisation, the content also will be made available to medical students and healthcare students in Africa, Asia and South America.

The e-learning format provides distinct advantages for delivering immunology education, which traditionally relied on textbooks and classroom teaching that often lag behind rapid scientific advances. Used in conjunction with Perception-delivered quizzes, participants of online courses can test their knowledge and get helpful feedback that reinforces learning and link relevant additional online learning materials.

About Questionmark
Questionmark has been producing testing and assessment software since 1988. The Questionmark Perception assessment management system allows people to create question files without programming experience or knowledge of HTML. Users can create multiple question banks from which to assemble tests and surveys, organising questions into topics and sub-topics. They can shuffle questions and answers for each participant and preview sessions to see how they will appear post-deployment. They can present questions with videos, graphics and a wide variety of styles. Participants receive feedback as specified by the test author. Answers are saved to a file for scoring and analysis in a variety of report formats.

Businesses, governments, schools, colleges, and universities in more than 50 countries use Questionmark software. Questionmark has more than 2,200 customers using Perception and is a keen supporter of open standards. Typical applications include exams, quizzes, study aids, diagnostic tests, pre-course skills assessments, and course evaluations. Questionmark offers training courses and extensive learning materials designed to improve assessment authoring and management.
