Case Study

Presenters:
Stefanie Moerbeek, EXIN

Title:
Adaptation and Management of Test Items

Synopsis:
This presentation will start with an outline of the procedure of adaptation/localisation. It will then briefly explore the guidelines for adaptation of tests and the relationship with quality assurance. This will be followed by an explanation of item management and the presentation of a spreadsheet showing all item versions in 14 languages (item version + status + parallel versions).

Particular attention will be paid to the challenges posed by test item management, specifically:

  • Problems posed by having some item management organised outside the item bank
  • Quality assurance issues connect with the logged of issue reports outside the database
  • Difficulty of navigating between item management and item content
  • The need to store item management and content together for easy navigation and management

The session will also include a demonstration of and discussion about potential new Questionmark tools for translation, adaptation and management of test items.

Objectives:

  • See a process for adaptation of tests
  • Gain insight into issues to be considered when designing/organising an item management system
  • Explore ways to support the adaptation process and facilitate effective item management.
