Case Study

Presenters:
David J A Lewis, Blended Learning Coordinator, and Ceri Richards, University of Glamorgan

Title:
0 to 200 in 3 months - How to implement a large scale organisational roll-out in a limited time

Synopsis:
The University of Glamorgan had been considering and evaluating Questionmark Perception for a number of years, but a new imperative, in terms of e-learning systems and personnel following on from a series of successful pilots, dictated a short implementation phase for an institution as large and diverse as Glamorgan.  Lessons were learned, shortcomings identified, and the first online exam undertaken.  The user community nationally proved to be a rich source of experience and help from an academic perspective.

Objectives:

  • Understand the issues to do with the implementation of Perception in a large organisation with limited time and resources
  • Be aware of the subtle differences between formative and summative assessments, in terms of Perception configuration, and the impact on feedback
  • Gain an insight in good practice in assessment and participant management
