Version 4 support home knowledge base troubleshooting questionmark secure

Question:

Participants are prompted to install the Questionmark Secure Browser, instead of being directed to an assessment. How can I correct this?

Answer:

If participants are being directed to a web page and prompted to install the Questionmark Secure Browser instead of being directed to an assessment, then the Questionmark Secure Browser has not installed correctly or the Questionmark Secure file association is not set properly. If you have installed Questionmark Secure previously please refer to the Knowledge Base article to check that the .qmsb file association is set:

Why do I get a .qmsb - unknown file type error when I open a secure assessment?

If you have not:

  • Installed Questionmark Secure previously
  • Been given the opportunity to download it when you attempt a secure assessment

You may manually install the Questionmark Secure Browser. This will, in most cases prevent the participants from being asked to install the Questionmark Secure Browser.

Manually installing the Questionmark Secure Browser

To manually install the Questionmark Secure Browser:

  1. Using your browser, navigate to the Download page of the Questionmark website

  2. Scroll down the page to Questionmark Secure, and click Download software

On the screen that is displayed, enter the details regarding your email address and preferred language

  3. Click Get Questionmark Secure

The File Download screen is displayed

  4. Click Save

The Save As screen is displayed

  5. Navigate to a convenient location on your computer system, and click Save

  6. When the Download Complete screen is displayed, click Open

  7. The Questionmark Secure Browser installer wizard will run. Follow the steps in the wizard to complete the installation. For further instructions about installing the Questionmark Secure Browser please refer to the Installing chapter of the Questionmark Secure Participant Guide.
