When trying to restart the Shared Repository Service from the Shared Repository Manager, it is possible that this may not work. Reasons for this are that the Server platform you are running Perception Server on is currently low on resources (i.e available memory) this is sometimes the case for servers that have been running for prolonged periods, or have many different services running at the same time. When this issue arises it is necessary to either restart the Server, or if this is not an option at present then the services can be restarted manually, from the Microsoft Services Management Console.
It may be neccessary to restart the service if you want to change the system or license settings, or to clear out the memory it is using.
