Version 4 support home knowledge base troubleshooting perception server

Question:

Why when I send email broadcasts is the address of the Perception Server wrong?

Answer:

When broadcasting emails created by Perception Server the included links to assessments are not displaying the correct IP address or domain name. This is caused by incorrect details stored in the server settings. To correct this, follow the instructions below.

Assigning the correct IP or Domain name to the server settings

To change the IP address or domain name displayed in the broadcast email you must make sure that the server settings are pointing to the correct web server that Perception is running on. If they are not correct the settings will have to be changed to ensure the server sends users the appropriate information to log in. To do this:

  1. In Enterprise Manager select Administration | Server Management
  1. From the list of options that display, select Server Settings

  1. Find the Web server settings section and check the Server Root settings

  1. Update the value in this field so that it is pointing to the correct server IP address or domain name
  1. When you have made the appropriate changes select Save & Exit. Your server details have now been updated. But before the changes will take affect you will need to reset the server dlls. This can be accomplished by checking Resetting Server DLLs below.

Resetting Server DLLs

In order to reset the DLLs of the Perception Server so that any changes to the server settings are realised you will need to carry out the following:

  1. In Enterprise Manager select Administration | Server Management
  1. Click Reset Perception Server DLLs
  1. Select the DLLs you wish to reset, in this case it is recommended you reset Open.dll, Perception.dll and session.dll, and click Reset

  1. Follow the on screen prompts to reset each of the DLL files
