How do I set up Perception Server Version 4.2 once I have run the install program?

Answer:

Once you have run the Perception Server Version 4.2 install program, you will need to configure your installation before you can start delivering assessments. How you do so will depend on whether you are:

A Service Pack is available for Perception Server Version 4.2 that provides improvements to the functionality of Enterprise Manager. It also fixes several issues in Enterprise Manager including scheduling and email broadcasting issues. Refer to How do I install Service Pack 1 for Perception Server 4.2? for more information.

Installing for the first time

If you are installing Perception Server Version 4.2 from scratch, you will need to create your repository and may need to perform additional configuration tasks depending on the system you are using. Refer to Installing Perception Server in the Perception Server Installation Guide for full instructions on how to create your repository and configure your installation.

Upgrading from Version 4.1

If you are upgrading your existing Perception Server Version 4.1 installation to Perception Server Version 4.2 you will need to update your database using Shared Repository Manager.

For each repository you are using:

  1. Select the repository in the list
     
  2. Click on Update Scripts
     
  3. If you are using an Oracle database, run the script ora-upgrade42.sql
     
  4. if you are using a SQL database, run the script sql-upgrade42.sql

Then, for the repository you are currently using:

  1. Select the repository in the list
     
  2. Click on Configure Server and enter your User Name, Password, and click on OK
     
  3. Select the perceptionv4.ini file (in the correct location)
     
  4. Click OK.

You may need to perform additional configuration tasks depending on the system you are using. Refer to Upgrading Perception Server in the Perception Server Installation Guide for full instructions.
