Questionmark Perception Authoring Browser Based Authoring

Browser Based Authoring

Overview
Questionmark™ Perception’s browser-based authoring system provides an easy and distributed environment for creating questions and assessments. It allows rapid development of items by subject matter experts without requiring them to install anything on their desktop. You can author using a browser, and your questions and assessment are stored in the Perception server’s repositories. Question Manager provides a management environment for questions and Assessment Manager does the same for assessments.
  • Create 8 different types of questions using wizards or the built-in question editor.
  • Use wizards to guide authors through the process of assembling questions into assessments.
  • Build helpful feedback into questions to enhance learning retention. Feedback can be content embedded within the question or can link to external learning resource to facilitate remediation.
  • Include multimedia files including audio and video to Perception questions.
  • Store and manage questions and their supporting resources in shared repositories.
  • Work in collaboratively multi-author environments with many security options that protect question and assessment folders against unauthorized access.

Question Manager
Questionmark Perception's BBA Question Manager allows you to create questions in a number of different formats called question types. All question types can include graphics, multi-media, sound, videos, and URLs pointing to useful learning materials. This interface allows you to create eight question types using wizards.

You can organize your questions into topics and sub-topics, shuffle choices, and include question-specific graphics and styles. A topic, or sub-topic is a group of questions (a.k.a. items) relating to a particular subject, topic, and/or level of difficulty. As the number of questions you create grows, topics will become increasingly useful for organizing your questions. Topics can also contain subtopics, which can be organized according to subject matter or level of difficulty. One topic might relate to Microsoft products, and sub-topics might relate to Office products, and further sub-topics might relate to features of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. You might set up other topics for questions relating to ethics or processes and procedures.

  • Topic and subtopic names can be up to 200 characters long.
  • A topic can contain a maximum of 10 sub-levels.
  • There can exist an almost unlimited number of subtopics within a topic.
  • Topics can contain an almost unlimited number of questions.
  • An almost unlimited number of topics can be held within the question database.

Topics can be assigned to groups and thereby limit access from other groups.

Assessment Manager
Questionmark Perception's Assessment Manager allows you to create and try out assessments. Assessment Manager allows you to specify which questions are to be delivered, determine whether they are to be delivered in order or randomly, create a look and feel by selecting a template, decide at which level you would like to provide feedback (item or assessment) and plan how to end the assessment.
